Three team race for 3A State Wrestling title

DES MOINES (KWWL)--In the last six years the 3A team title has been won by either Waverly Shell Rock or Iowa City West and it's no surprise that both teams are right in the thick of the race.

At 103 pounds, Iowa City West's Phillip Laux picks up a 14-3 major decision and earns him a berth in the title round.

A good one at 119 defending champ Eric Devos of Waverly-Shell Rock clinging to a late third period lead, but South East Polk's Cory Clark, reigning champ at 112 picks up a late 2 points to knock off Devos 7-6.

Another great matchup at 140, Two defending state runner up's in the Go-Hawks' Jordan Rinken and Iowa City West's Elijah Sullivan.

In overtime, Rinken would win with a takedown.

The Go-Hawk senior will go for his first state title Saturday night

Waverly-Shell Rock's Cody Caldwell will go for his third straight title after his 9-2 decision at 152

And the Go-Hawks Cody Krumwiede also will get a chance for his third championship.
