Iowa company providing grain bin houses for Haiti

SHEFFIELD (KWWL)-- An Iowa company is hoping some unusual homes will help families devastated by last year's earthquake in Haiti.

Sukup Manufacturing in Sheffield is building and donating 16 steel grain bin houses, for shipment in April.

The Haiti Relief Fund will distribute the small, round buildings to families who lost their homes in the quake.

The company says the grain bins will provide sturdy and bug-resistant shelter until the families are able to rebuild.

In light of Haiti's extremely warm climate, the company also built a layer of protection over the top of every grain home.

That will provide a constant layer of shade to help keep things cooler.
