Man faces drug charges after pot found in teddy bear

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A Waterloo man faces several charges after a teddy bear filled with marijuana was shipped to his house.

Douglas Duane Hoffman, 53, is charged with Money Laundering, Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana While in the Immediate Possession of a Firearm and a Drug Tax Stamp Violation.

According to court records, the Tri County Drug Enforcement Task Force seized a FedEx package shipped to Hoffman's home at 3204 Sage Road in Waterloo.

Inside the package, was a teddy bear stuffed with packages of marijuana.

Members of the task force then delivered the package to the home and executed a search warrant.

Inside the home, they found marijuana, packaging material, digital scales and other teddy bears that had been cut open.  They also found more marijuana and a loaded handgun and ammunition in a safe in Hoffman's bedroom.  Hoffman admitted to owning the gun.

Hoffman's son, Trevel Randolph, 26, was also home and admitted to shipping marijuana to the home.  He also said he had sent other shipments on at least five other occasions.

According to court documents, Randolph told officers that his father was aware of the shipments and was involved in the sale and distribution of some of the pot.
