Red wine added to chemotherapy may fight cancer better

CLEVELAND, OHIO (KWWL) -- Prescribing red wine along with breast cancer treatment could help women respond better.

A study out of the Cleveland Clinic looked at combining a compound in red wine, called resveratrol, with a breast cancer drug called Rapamycin.

Cancer cells become resistant to the effects of the drug after a while, but researchers found adding resveratrol to the treatment plan caused the tumor to shrink.

The study has only been done using breast cancer cells in the lab, and hasn't been tested on humans yet.
