Cedar Valley United Way Campaign Tops $ 3 Million

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL)-- For the second straight year, the Cedar Valley United Way has raised a total of more than $3 million. Announcement of the campaign's grand total of $ 3,002, 291 came during the annual Breakfast of Champions Thursday morning at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls. UNI President Ben Allen, and his wife, Pat, co-chaired this year's campaign.

The total for this year's campaign was only slightly lower than last year's record amount of donations at $ 3,035,315, It's only the second time in history that the Cedar Valley United Way has topped the $3 million mark.

Overall giving by Cedar Valley individuals and businesses increased by six percent and represented more than $ 2,000,000 of the total. About 60 percent of all John Deere employees contribute to the Cedar Valley United Way campaign and Deere employees went over the $1,000,000 mark again this year.
