Iowa City Police looking for person who took dog from fire scene

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Iowa City Police are asking for the public's help in finding a person they say was seen taking a dog from an apartment building just before a fire was reported there.

Police say the person left 421 South Dodge Street with a dog on Jan. 29, just before a fire was reported there at 10:54 p.m.

The fire was found in apartment #1.

Police are also looking for information to help them identify a man that could have been a witness to the fire.

They say a man, between 5'10" and 6' tall, wearing a dark colored coat and pants was seen around College Green Park and/or 421 S. Dodge Street on Jan. 29, between 10:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m.  A composite sketch of the possible witness is on the left. 

Police say the person who took the dog and the possible witness could be the same person or different people. They hope someone will come forward with information to help clarify.
