DNR investigating bald eagle killed in SE Iowa

MUSCATINE CO. (KWWL) -- The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating a bald eagle shot and killed in southeastern Iowa.

The DNR got a call on January 8th from someone who found the eagle in a field north of Letts in Muscatine County.

A conservation officer says the bird died from a gunshot wound.

The penalty for killing a bald eagle is up to one year in prison and a $250, 000 fine.
