NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK (KWWL)--The Big Apple is getting even tougher on smokers.
New York City voting to prohibit smoking in all city parks, benches and in Times Square.
The new ordinance, which still has to be signed by Mayor Bloomberg, will cover about 1,700 and 14 miles of public beaches plus boardwalks, marinas and pedestrian plazas.
A law banning smoking in New York City bars and restaurants, much like Iowa's ban, has been in place since 2003.
