Dubuque Police seek information on suspicious fires


DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- The Dubuque Police & Fire Departments, along with Dubuque/Jo Daviess Crime Stoppers are asking the public for information regarding a suspicious fire at 595 Angella Street on January 30th at 9:00 p.m. Based on the ongoing investigation, the fire has been categorized as suspicious. A Dubuque Firefighter was also injured when he fell from the first floor down to the lower level while battling the blaze.

Dubuque Fire & Police personnel also continue to investigate another suspicious fire that happened at 746 Peru Road at 3:37 p.m. on February 1st. Three people, Richard Burns, Eric Prine & Jason Laufenberg, were present at the time of the fire and in the process of modifying a 20 pound LP tank. The contents of the tank ignited during the modification attempt (possibly by a furnace, water heater and/or cigarette) and caused an explosion and subsequent fire. Burns & Prine suffered injuries that ultimately required transport to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Both of the above mentioned structures on Angella Street and at 746 Peru Road sustained extensive damage and remain uninhabitable. Anonymous tips are accepted and monetary rewards could be offered by Crime Stoppers and the State Fire Marshal's Office if the information leads to an arrest.
