Snow plows make access to emergency care easy

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- In these snowy conditions, access to emergency care may be more important than ever.

Wheaton Franciscan Snow Removal Coordinator Rod Foster and his crew may only be plowing snow, but without them the public may not be quite as safe.

"We have to be prepared at the drop of a hat for whatever we are presented with. To be able to respond to make it safe for the people to come in and out," Foster said.

Foster and his team of 20 worked throughout the night making sure people can make it to the hospital.

"We prepare for 3,500 people to get in and out of here," he said.

The most important places to be cleared first is the emergency room lots. That part of Covenant Medical Center is open 24 hours a day and emergency crews must be able to easily get in and out of the area.

The Wheaton Franciscan Health Care snow removal team not only clears Covenant Medical Center and four other locations.
