Lawmakers say "no" to distracted walking

ALBANY, NY (KWWL) -- If you're walking distracted, some lawmakers want to put a stop to it.

In New York and Arkansas, there's discussion by legislators to crack down on distracted walkers, much in the same manner as distracted drivers.

The Arkansas rule would ban pedestrians from walking with headphones in both ears while on, parallel or adjacent to streets.

Runners and cyclists are also covered, and one ear devices would be permitted.

In New York, people using crosswalks in cities of one million or more residents would be banned from headphones.
