CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- Three men face tougher charges in a break-in at a Cedar Falls apartment on New Year's Day.

The suspects, Jacob Noelting-Petra, 18, Cristian Lucier, 21, and Johntrell Humphrey, 19, all of Waterloo, were initially charged with burglary and drug possession, but the burglary charges have now been changed to 1st degree robbery.

Police say the three men broke into a home in the 1000 block of Bluff Street just before midnight, and held the residents at gunpoint.

The men left with money, a television and some cell phones.

But police were able to track the suspects down because one of the phones had a built-in GPS locator.

Police also found the men with a handgun, masks and a backpack with more than 100 grams of marijuana.
