WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A Waterloo man who was convicted of downloading child pornography from the Internet onto his computer, was sentenced to more than 24 years in federal prison.

Edward Swingen, 43, from Waterloo, received the prison term after August 30, 2010 guilty pleas to receiving and possessing child pornography.

In a plea agreement, Swingen admitted he received photographs of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct by downloading the pictures from the Internet and possessed and attempted to possess on his computer photographs and videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

A special assessment of $200 was imposed, and he must also serve a 10-year term of supervised release after the prison term.

There is no parole in the federal system.
