Hy-Vee donates Smart Boards to area schools

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- An area business is helping schools get a high tech upgrade.

People with Hy-Vee stores are providing schools with interactive whiteboards called Smart Boards. It's all a part of the store's "Smiles for Education" program.

Six schools in Cedar Falls, Waterloo and Waverly will receive the new boards. One Hy-Vee worker says it's great to have the opportunity to give back.

"We are very active in our local community and our schools. It's important to participate in our children's education and we are community players here and always will be," said Hy-Vee Marketing Coordinator Nikki Keller.

Shoppers helped raise money by purchasing certain products and then earning points that they could designate to the school of their choice.

One Smart Board is $15, 000.
