Superman comes to Iowa in latest comic book

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- The man of steel comes to Des Moines and we're not talking about Ron Steele.

Have you heard?  The latest Superman comic book is out and it features Iowa's capital city.  Issue 707 continues the story line that Superman is walking across America to get back in touch with people.  The comic book artwork shows several popular Des Moines landmarks, including the Principal Building and the Iowa State Capitol.

Rob Rodgers, who is a manager at Limited Edition Comics in Cedar Falls says, believe it or not, Iowa is mentioned in quite a few popular comics.

"Iowa has such a huge connection in comic books. They've been mentioned like Hawkeye from Marvel comics is from Waverly, Iowa.  Flash is from Fallville, Iowa, which I don't know if that's a made up town, I've never researched it, but Flash has an appearance there. Some popular writers are from Iowa like we have one that lives, his hometown is North English," Rodgers said.

Limited Edition sold out of the comic very quickly Wednesday.  The store had 30 copies that morning and had to hold one for us to get video for this story.  Rodgers says he's going to get more copies soon.

Another popular comic book will make news later this month.  The author of the Fantastic Four is planning on killing off one of the characters.  That issue hits shelves in late January.
