Keeping the weight off this new year

WATERLOO (KWWL)-- It's safe to say one of the top New Year's resolutions for many Americans is to lose weight in the new year. Gold's Gym Trainer Laura Grant says she hears this a lot and it doesn't really surprise her.

"Most American are overweight. Unfortunately they are sitting on the couch. They are getting busy with their activities and all of the sudden they ask where did that 20 pounds come from. So its the beginning of the new year. New year, new you," said Grant.

Grant suggests one of the first steps to loose the weight is to throw out all the junk food. She says it's easy to fall off track when the junk food is right there in the house. After the bad food is out, it's time to make the commitment to walk through those gym doors.

"Do something with your friends. Its more motivating if you have a group of people that have the same idea and same mindset as you," said Grant.

A mindset that will hopefully keep you motivated past the first week of the New Year.
