UPDATE: Dense fog diverts Hawkeye football team to Madison

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Dense fog diverted a charter flight carrying the Iowa Hawkeye football team to Madison, Wisconsin Wednesday.

The team was flying in from Arizona after playing in the Insight Bowl and was due to land in Cedar Rapids at 3:56 p.m.

Instead the flight landed in Madison at 4:21 p.m.

Dense fog caused several cancellations at Eastern Iowa Airport.

At 4 p.m., visibility was down to 1/8 mile in Cedar Rapids.

United flight #7522 from Chicago due to arrive at 4:03 p.m. was cancelled. Delta flight #3806 from Detroit due to arrive at 4:26 p.m. was cancelled. Delta flight #3925 from Minneapolis/St. Paul due to arrive at 5:07 p.m. was also cancelled.

Pam Hinman from the Eastern Iowa Airport said that the fog has caused these cancellations.

Two United flights from Chicago due in later in the evening have been cancelled as well.

The fog also cancelled seven outgoing flights from Eastern Iowa Airport.
