Judge pleads guilty to OWI charge

BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) -- A Black Hawk County associate juvenile judge pleaded guilty to OWI charges on Monday.

Judge Daniel Lee Block, 48, was arrested for First Offense OWI on November 26th in Hamilton County. Block entered a written guilty plea and waive his right to appear.

Block was given a deferred judgment and was sentenced to one year probation.  Block must a $625 dollar fine.

Block was stopped by troopers from the Iowa State Patrol and blew a .135 on the breath test according to court records.

Block has remained on the bench pending the outcome of his OWI case.  Block's case could be sent to the Judicial Qualifications Commission, a seven-member panel that investigates claims of misconduct by judges and other court employees, for possible investigation.

The Judicial Qualifications Commission reports to the Iowa Supreme Court.
