Adam Robinson facing drug charge

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Off the field troubles continue for Hawkeye running back Adam Robinson after he was cited Monday night in Des Moines for Possession of Marijuana.

The Iowa State Patrol says Robinson was the passenger in car that was stopped around 10:45 Monday night on East 4th Street in Des Moines for not having a front license plate.

The trooper who made the stop said he smelled a strong odor of marijuana as he approached the car.  That led to a probable cause search which turned up marijuana.

The driver, Ermin Zornic, 20, was arrested and charged with Possession With Intent to Deliver Marijuana.  OWI charges are pending toxicology tests. He was taken to the Polk County Jail.

Robinson was charged with Possession of Marijuana and released.  He promised to appear in court on January 5, 2011, at 1:00 pm.

Robinson had already been suspended from the team for violating team rules and policies and did not make the trip to Tempe, Arizona for the Insight Bowl.
