Hawkeye touchdowns raise more than $180,000

IOWA CITY (KWWL)--When the Hawkeye's scored touchdowns this year, it meant more than just points on the scoreboard; it also meant money to support pediatric patients and their families.

Organizers of Iowa Touchdowns for Kids say they raised $181,966 in the first season of the program.

In the program, fans pledged at least $1 for every touchdown the Hawkeyes scored this year.  The money helps pediatric patients and their families at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.

1,348 fans from 31 states and Iraq and Canada pledged this year.

The Hawkeyes scored 45 touchdowns this season.
