Airline travelers more accepting of security screenings

Posted:

NEW YORK (AP) -- As the Christmas travel week arrives, many airline passengers say they have finally submitted to flying under the inconveniences of tighter security.

Arrests of unruly passengers are down.  People surrender to invasive pat-downs with little fuss. R resignation has replaced fear.  The Newark, N.J. airport is one of the country's biggest. Even there, most travelers shrugged off a two-hour disruption after a "suspicious package" closed a terminal Monday.

AAA says holiday air travel is up 2.8 percent this year.  That may also suggest U.S. travelers are undeterred by security measures introduced after a Nigerian was accused of trying to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner on Christmas Day 2009.
