Oakdale correctional facility inmate dies at UIHC

OAKDALE (KWWL) -- A Black Hawk County man being held at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Oakdale died Thursday at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

John Charles Boland, 45, had been serving a 17-year sentence from Black Hawk County for several counts of being a habitual offender.  His prison term began on August 4, 2004.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says Boland died of natural cause from cardio pulmonary obstructive disorder complicated by pneumonia.

A check of online court records show that Boland had been arrested numerous times for burglary, theft, possession of a controlled substance and trafficking stolen weapons.
