Invention Convention in Waterloo

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- Fourth and fifth graders from the Waterloo Community School District took part in a local Invent Iowa Convention on Thursday at the AEA 267 office in Cedar Falls.

Inventions ranged from the multi-cup filler to a combination fork and pizza cutter.

While some of the inventions left a few scratching their heads, they know the kids had fun being creative.

"Some of their ideas, I think where did that come from, but it's great, they have a lot of fun and they are especially happy to have an audience to share their ideas with," Carol Boyce, a gifted-ed teacher said.

Twenty judges interviewed the students and evaluated the entries.  The top scorers will move on to the sub-state level competition.
