Plane flips, closes Quad Cities Airport

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (KWWL) -- A strange accident shut down the Quad Cities Airport for a short time on Thursday morning.

Around 11:00 a.m. a small plane flipped onto its top on the runway.

Two men, the pilot and the passenger, were taken to the hospital to be checked out.  They appeared to only have bumps and bruises.

No flights could take-off or land until crews cleared the plane from the runway.

The cause of the accident is unknown, but those on scene say that while there was snow on the runway, braking conditions were good.

The National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation.
