UPDATE: Four injured in Highway 218 accident

WAVERLY (KWWL) --Four people were injured Wednesday afternoon when two vehicles collided in the northbound lanes of Highway 218 near the intersection of 260th Street near Janesville.

The northbound lanes of Highway 218 were closed for a time while crews handled the crash. The lane has since been reopened to traffic.

Authorities say Brian Rahe of New Ulm, Minnesota, lost control of his Jeep Liberty in the southbound lane of Highway 218.  The Jeep crossed the median and hit a second vehicle, a Ford winstar van, driven by Michael Henriksen of Grundy Center. The 43-year old Henriksen was injured and transported by Aircare Medicac to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. His condition is unknown at this hour.

The three others injured were all in the Rahe vehicle, including Brian Rahe, the driver.  29-year old Robert Rahe and 51-year old Judy Rahe were also injured. All three were transported from the scene by the Waverly ambulance.

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident remains under investigation.
