Waterloo school board passes revised dress code policy

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL)--   Waterloo's revised dress code policy and regulation was unanimously passed by board members Monday night.  School spokeswoman Sharon Miller says the tweaked policy will go into effect January third for those schools that adopted  the policy this academic year. The existing dress code policy will stay in place until that day. This new code outlines what attire the district will not allow at school.  Next fall, the policy will be district-wide.

The new proposal came about after a judge ruled the current policy is illegal. Parents appealed the proposal to the Iowa Board of Education, saying that the district had exceeded its authorities under state law.  The state board is expected to take up the issue January 27.
