VINTON (KWWL) -- A Garrison woman is facing forgery and theft charges after an investigation by the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Randy Forsyth says Mary Ellen Sheeley, 41, was arrested Monday morning following an investigation into missing money from the City of Garrison.

Forsyth says the investigation revealed that Sheeley forged the signature of the Garrison City Clerk on approximately 36 checks between August and December of this year while employed as the city's library director.  The checks totaled $4,062.97.

Sheeley is charged with Forgery and Second Degree Theft.

She was taken to the Benton County Jail where she was arraigned and released pending a court appearance December 15, 2010.
