Cedar Rapids Police arrest shooting victim

Shawn Arnett Shawn Arnett

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- A Cedar Rapids man was arrested after police say he was shot and gave police a fake name.

Officers were called to 371 16th Street SE around 7:21 Thursday night for a report of shots fired.

Officers located two men at 3rd Avenue and 15th Street SE and discovered that one of them had been shot in the right shoulder.

Officers originally identified him as Cyron Arnett, 40.  He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital by ambulance.

While he was at the hospital, officers determined that he had lied about his name and was really Shawn Arnett, 39.

Arnett was arrested for Interference with Official Acts and taken to the Linn County Jail.

After further investigation, officers remembered that someone who identified himself as Cyron Arnett was charged with Disorderly House on Nov. 24.  That charge was re-filed against Shawn Arnett along with the additional charge of Preventing Apprehension.
