CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- A report of an apartment fire leads investigators to a meth bust.

Crews were called to 1313 Oakland Road NE, apartment #5, last Thursday.  When they arrived, the home was covered in a smoky haze and no one was home.  Inside firefighters found what they believed to be a meth lab.

Around the same time, police were called to Mercy Medical Center when a man showed up with burns.

An investigation determined that Jacob McMann was making meth in the apartment.

McMann was transferred from Mercy to St. Luke's Hospital and was released on Thursday.  He was arrested and then taken to the Linn County Jail.

McMann is charged with First Degree Arson for causing a fire while manufacturing meth, Manufacturing Methamphetamine in the Presence of Minors and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
