Black Hawk County Judge charged with OWI


BLACK HAWK CO (KWWL) -- A Black Hawk County judge has been charged with drunk driving.

Daniel Lee Block was arrested in Hamilton County Nov. 26, during Thanksgiving weekend.
He's charged with Operating While Intoxicated and Open Container.

Block is an associate juvenile judge in Black Hawk County. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Northern Iowa, teaching Juvenile and Family Law. He also chairs the Black Hawk County Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative.

A search of Iowa court records shows Daniel L. Block was also arrested for Open Container in Delaware County, April 5, 2002; and also in Cedar County, December 2, 1995.

Block was retained as District Court 1B Associate Juvenile Judge in the November 2010 election, with 70.66% voting yes.

Friday, The Black Hawk County court administrator's office says Block is still working regular chamber hours.

When contacted Friday afternoon, Block said he has no comment on the arrest at this time.
