Hawkeye women race by the Cyclones 62-40


IOWA CITY(KWWL)-- The No. 16 Iowa State women's basketball team had rough starts to both halves Thursday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena as the Cyclones fell 62-40 to the No. 19 Iowa Hawkeyes. The loss drops Iowa State to 6-2 on the season.

Iowa State was led on the night by Lauren Mansifeld's 16 points. Kelsey Bolte chipped in eight points and a team-high six rebounds. Iowa (9-1) had three players in double figures led by Morgan Johnson's 16 points and 10 rebounds. Kelly Krei added 15 points and Kachine Alexander tallied 13.

Iowa State was cold from the field during the game, shooting 32.6 percent (14-43), including 4-18 in the second half. The Cyclones could not get rolling from deep either, going 2-9. Iowa State was dominated on the glass, with the Hawkeyes holding a 40-27 edge on the boards.
