Local filmmaker shoots movie in the Tri-States

HAZEL GREEN, WISCONSIN (KWWL) -- Hollywood is taking over the Tri-states. A local filmmaker has been shooting a science fiction film for the last week.

A Grant County Sheriff's car sat in the drive of this Hazel Green, Wisconsin farm.

"Just realizing that something terrible has taken place," Tim Connery said.

Word has spread to Haley Reed that there was a murder last night and her family may been in danger.

"And she's trying to get into the house to make sure that her loved ones are okay," Jeb Metzger said.

But Grant County Sheriff Mark Schultz won't let Reed inside.

Don't worry though, this scene isn't real life. It's the view the set of a sci-fi film called Easton's Article.

"It takes place in 1997. It's about a guy who's kind of a computer expert who accidentally stumbles across his future obituary," director Tim Connery said.

Connery and his crew have been filming through out the Tri-states for several days now. For him it's all about bringing the film industry home and others are catching on.

"It's kind of important for the area because we're kind of on the ground floor again as far as the film industry. And I think this will let people know how community friendly films are," said Executive Producer Joe Sherrman.

The group is using the same type of camera as crews from Pirates of the Caribbean 4 and a recent movie, The Social Network. And they're bringing Hollywood to the Tri-states, using local actors and local resources.

"Something like this with the amount of money we're spending on it. It wouldn't be possible to make this happen without shooting it an area like this where people are so willing to lend their time and resources," Producer Jeb Metzger said.

And at the end of the day, after the director yells cut, this crime scene will transform into a movie scene. One that they hope to be in theaters sometime next year.

Connery is an East Dubuque, Illinois native. His crew has shot in several notable locations in the Tri-states including the famous Clock tower, 4th Street Elevator and the Julien Dubuque Bridge.
