The majority of the complaints were on the west side of Iowa City in neighborhoods off of W. Benton St and Melrose Ave. Residents reported that the windows were broken out of vehicles parked outside of their homes. Police believe a baseball bat was used to cause the damage.

On the Eastside of the city, residents in the neighborhoods off Highland Ave reported windows broken out of garages and damage to holiday decorations.

Police believe the damage occurred between December 2nd and December 4th during the nighttime hours. On the Westside of the city witnesses reported seeing a dark colored SUV in the area around the time glass was heard breaking.
