Holiday trains rolls through Bellevue

BELLEVUE (KWWL) -- The Canadian Pacific holiday train rolled through Bellevue Sunday evening.

Holiday lights and musical acts fed the crowd's eyes, while a donation to the local food bank will help feed those in need.

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train has traveled around Canada for 12 holiday seasons -- and the US for the past ten 10 -- raising awareness, food and money for local food banks in both countries, according to the Canadian Pacific Website.

It also says the train has raised a total of $4.8 million and 2.3 million pounds of food over the course of 12 years. This is through a partnership with the National Food Sharing Program, the Website says.

It started its Midwest tour Saturday in Pingree Grove, Illinois. In Iowa, it has stopped in Muscatine, Davenport, Clinton, Bellevue and Dubuque.

It will stop Monday in Guttenberg at 1:30 p.m., at the east side of the Schiller Street railway crossing; Marquette at 3:45 p.m., at Marina Parking Lot, north of Lady Luck Casino at Water Street & Highway 76; and Lansing at 5:45 p.m., at Ball Park Field on South Front Street between North Second and Dodge Street.

Other stops include Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and Canada.
