Black Hawks rally for 4-2 win over Team USA

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The Waterloo Black Hawks rallied from a 2 goal first period deficit to drop Team USA 4-2 Saturday night in Young Arena.

Team USA tallied goals from Nick Kerdiles and Kyle Osterberg in the first ten minutes to take the early edge.  Waterloo countered with an unassisted goal from Andrew Panzerella, but still trailed 2-1 at the end of the period.

That changed early in the second period on a 5 on 3 power play as Blake Thompson scored on a one-timer to knot the score at 2 apiece.  Tyler Zepeda scored the go-ahead goal on a shorthanded breakaway opportunity later in the period.  Gunnar Hughes tallied the final goal in the 3rd period to cap the Hawks scoring.
