Congress looks into keeping your Internet traffic private

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- One Internet browser is looking at ways to keep your wanderings on the world wide web private.

Firefox is working on a do-not-track mechanism that would keep you from being monitored while you surf the net.

The idea is gathering steam in Congress. A house subcommittee on consumer protection is holding a hearing this week into do not track proposals.

Also, the Federal Trade Commission is working on a privacy report that would support a do not track feature for browsers.
