NEW DETAILS: Man attacked Butler County deputy with chisel

SHELL ROCK (KWWL) -- The Butler County Sheriff's Office has released new details on the shooting that took place on Sunday morning in Shell Rock.

Sheriff Jason Johnson says Jeromy Jenkins, 39, attacked Deputy Justin Trees with a chisel before Trees shot Jenkins.

Deputies were called to 1008 Triangle Drive in Shell Rock early Sunday morning for a domestic dispute. 

Jenkins is charged with Aggravated Domestic Assault, Assault of a Peace Officer and Going Armed with Intent.

Trees was not injured, Jenkins was taken to Waverly Hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound.
