ARLINGTON (KWWL) -- A 16-year old Starmont student faces charges in connection with a bomb threat found at the school last week.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says Megghan Jolyn Recker, a junior at Starmont High School, is charged with False Reports.

The sheriff's office says the were called to the school just after 10:00 a.m. on Nov. 23, after a note was found in a restroom.  The note indicated that a bomb had been placed in the library and would go off at noon.

Deputies searched the school and found nothing.

According to Iowa Code, False Reports is a class "D" felony and is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of at least $750 but no more than $7,500.

Recker, who is from the Stanley area, was referred to Juvenile Court Services and released to her parents until her next court date.

The sheriff's office says the case remains under investigation and other students could be charged.
