Santas to unite in Cedar Falls Saturday

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- Santas and elves will unite in Cedar Falls Saturday for a community run/walk that begins at the Community Center at 6th and Main.

Anyone can participate and everyone is encouraged to dress like Santa – early registrants that day will get a Santa hat (as long as supplies last). There'll be awards for Best Santa, Best Other Costume, and Biggest Team.

Sign-up will be that morning at the Community Center from 8:00 – 8:45am with the starting "jingle" at 9:00am.

The route will head north from the Community Center on Main Street to First Street, turning around and heading west on 2nd street to Washington. The Santas will head south on Washington, east on 5th and land back at the Community Center for fun and prizes. It's a short run/walk, about 1 mile -- just the right length for maximum participation.

Registration fee is $15 and includes a Santa hat and a free breakfast. Any proceeds from the run will go to defraying downtown lighting and Holiday Hoopla events.

Santas are invited, but not required, to bring a toy for the Toy Drive. There'll be a temporary location for collecting the toys that morning which will be added to Spinutech's Toy Drive to benefit the Salvation Army Toy Drive.  There'll be plenty of Santa spirit that morning and a sight to behold. Spectators and cameras are welcomed for the event. A Community Pancake Breakfast will be held before, during and after the running of the Santas at the Community Center.
