McCarney to coach North Texas

DENTON, TEXAS (KWWL) -- Former Iowa State head football coach Dan McCarney will be named the next head coach at North Texas according to several reports.

Since leaving Iowa State in 2006, McCarney has had assistant coaching stints at South Florida and Florida.  He's currently the Gators' offensive line coach.

During his 12 year tenure as head coach of the Cyclones, McCarney led ISU to 5 bowl games, and is the program's all time winningest coach.

He'll replace Todd Dodge who was fired after 3 seasons at the helm for the Mean Green.
