Black Friday shoppers fighting the cold and long lines

WATERLOO (KWWL)-- Friday morning temperatures were only in the teens and some Black Friday shoppers really showed their dedication to deals.

At the Best Buy in Waterloo, many spent the whole night outside in tents just to be the first in line for the best price.

Eric Warnell is the General Manager at the Waterloo Best Buy. This is his seventh Black Friday at this store and each year he sees more and more people getting up earlier just to save some money.

"I think that they are wonderful people. They are completely dedicated to making sure that their family has a fantastic Christmas and I applaud them," said Warnell.

For the employees who have to work on Black Friday it can be one of the most stressful days in retail, but Warnell makes sure his team is prepared.

"We do what we call a dry run training where we bring in all the employees and we have them line up where they are going to be and we just slam about 100 people at them all at once."

There was an estimated 530 people in line Friday morning and the first person in line was there at two o'clock in the afternoon Wednesday.
