STD report shows chlamydeous and syphilis on the rise

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A report on sexually transmitted diseases reveals gonorrhea rates are down in the U.S., while chlamydeous and syphilis are on the rise.

The Centers for Disease Control estimates the number of gonorrhea cases is the lowest since they started tracking the disease in 1945.

But syphilis cases continue to rise, especially among homosexual men and young African American men.

And chlamydeous is now the top reported STD in the U.S. increasing 19 percent since 2006.
