Waterloo man arrested on gun and drug charges

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A Waterloo man faces gun and drug charges after police found him hiding in a closet on Sunday night.

Members of the Waterloo Police Violent Crime Apprehension Team were searching 747 Russell Road, apartment 29, when they found Deondrae Dominique Washington, 24, hiding in a closet.

Washington was wanted on an arrest warrant. 

Along with the warrant, Washington is charged with Felon in Possession of Firearm, Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Drug Tax Stamp Violation and Theft in the Third Degree, possession of stolen property.

During the search, officers seized a large quantity of marijuana, $4,300 in cash and five handguns.

Officers determined that the guns had been stolen from two separate Waterloo residences. Four of the guns were reported stolen in October 2010 from 99 Mosley Street. The fifth was reported stolen from 857 Dawson Street in October 2009.

Washington is currently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
