MACOMB, Ill. (KWWL) - Western Illinois defeated Northern Iowa 30-14 Saturday afternoon.

Leading 20-0, Western Illinois scored a touchdown early in the third quarter off a screen pass that went 87 yards.

The Leathernecks edged the Panthers in total first half yards 322 to 100.

Western Illinois had the time of possession advantage in the first half, 18:33 to 11:27.

Panthers got their first score late in the third quarter.

In the first half, Western Illinois was 4-4 in the red zone. UNI did not make it to the red zone in the first half.

The Panthers (7-4, 6-2) secured the MVC title and a spot in the FCS playoffs when it topped Missouri State last week.
