Marion installs LED street lights

MARION (KWWL) -- The City of Marion Public Services Department will be installing LED (Light Emitting Diode) street lights at the intersections of South 22nd and Tama Street along Highway 100.

City officials say the LED street lights will use a third of electricity than conventional street lights and provide a higher level of lighting output for motorists. The project will evaluate the reliability of the lighting system through periods of extreme weather conditions.

If successful, the city plans to incorporate additional lighting systems throughout the City of Marion and provide significant savings in operating expenditures.
