Reality show leads man to shoot his TV

Posted:

MADISON, WISCONSIN (KWWL) -- Police say a reality TV show led a Wisconsin man to shoot his television.

Prosecutors say Steven Cowan, 67, of Vermont, Wisconsin, blasted his TV with shotgun after watching Bristol Palin's routine on Dancing with the Stars on Monday, leading to an all-night stand-off with a SWAT team.

According to court documents, Cowan felt Palin was not a good dancer.

Police say he pointed the gun at his wife after shooting the TV.  She managed to escape and call police.  Tactical officers surrounded the house and finally managed to talk Cowan out Tuesday morning.

Cowan is charged with second-degree reckless endangerment.
