CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- The Solon Spartans charged out to a 19-0 lead and never looked back as they return to the state finals downing Pella 26-14.

Solon, which moved to class 3A this season, had won 3 consecutive class 2A titles coming into this season.  The Spartans will face Sioux City Heelan in the 3A final in an attempt to make it four in a row.

The Spartans provided the only scoring in the first half Friday as quarterback J.J. Hanus ran in a keeper from 5 yards out giving Solon the 6-0 first quarter advantage.  Hanus would then go to the air for the second score finding receiver Derrick Loveless on an 11 yard strike late in the half for a 12-0 advantage.  The 2 squad traded a pair of touchdowns in the second half, as Solon held on for the victory.
