WAVERLY (KWWL) -- Police have arrested 42-year-old Christopher Kenneth Sloan and charged him with Attempt to Commit Murder, 2nd Degree Sexual Assault, and 3rd Degree Kidnapping.

Police were initially called to the Waverly Health Center on Thursday because a victim was reporting a sexual assault.

Police then executed a search warrant at Sloan's home and arrested him.

According to the criminal complaint, Sloan confined his victim to a room by blocking the door with objects and his body in the late night hours of Wednesday into the early morning hours of Thursday.

The complaint goes on to say that Sloan raped the victim and then hit her causing severe bruising and a broken nose.

Police say that Sloan went on to strangle the woman causing her to go unconscious and suffer a torn esophagus.
