12th Annual Cedar Valley Conference on Human Rights

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Leonard Pitts, Pulitzer-prize winning newspaper columnist, will be the keynote speaker at the 12th Annual Cedar Valley Conference on Human Rights sponsored by the Waterloo Commission on Human Rights. This year's conference is themed "Creating An Environment For Change."

Human Rights Director Abraham L. Funchess said the conference will provide breakout sessions on a variety of subjects, including new legislation in employment and housing law. The conference concludes with a work session facilitated by Dr. Michael D. Blackwell, director of multicultural education at the University of Northern Iowa.

The conference is open to the public and will be held November 18 from 7:30 am to 3 pm at Gerard Hall, Allen College, 1950 Heath Street. Cost for the conference is $30, which includes both breakfast and lunch provided by Allen College.
