Veterans Day activities at Iowa Veterans Museum

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- It's been nearly two years since the doors opened at the Five Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum in Waterloo.  The Grout Museum facility has a lot planned for Veterans Day.

"We have several things going on. A program called mail call, which is a program specifically to show appreciation to troops deployed. We'll have crafts, supplies, down in our lobby all day tomorrow for people to make letters to send to troops serving in Afghanistan.  It's free," Grout Museum Programs and Tours Director Christy Decker said.  "Hopefully, we get some veterans to come in to share their appreciation to people fighting the war today. Anyone who makes a card gets half-priced admission."

The museum has other events planned for later in November.  Including events to celebrate the museum's two year anniversary.

"This coming Saturday, we have a M*A*S*H exhibit event. It's called Medicine in the Military," Decker said.  "It's a family focus program with fun games for kids like bandage rolling, operation games, scavenger hunts and prizes. We also have new voices of veterans interviews in our theatres. Then, we're going to be celebrating our two year anniversary with a November 20th party. Operation showtime will be a M*A*S*H theme event. More information can be found at or by calling 319-234-6357."
